International SOS today welcomes Minister for Health and Aged Care Greg Hunt’s announcement that the company has been appointed to support the Australian Government to deliver its nationwide COVID-19 vaccination programme. The national roll-out strategy emphasises priority populations; quarantine and border workers, front line health officials and aged care and disability care residents and workers.
The International SOS Group is the world’s largest provider of health and security services to business and individuals. Operating in over 1000 locations in 90 countries, International SOS teams are experts in the global response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In preparation for this crucial national task, the Government is making use of the specialist expertise and capabilities of International SOS and other selected providers to deliver surge workforce capacity. Our services will help ensure operational readiness and successful delivery of this historically important mass vaccination programme.
International SOS has delivered large-scale vaccine programmes in challenging environments around the world. Our programs are clinically led by medical experts who are highly experienced in public health, vaccine safety and quality assurance. International SOS’ Medical Director Dr Andrew Ebringer will oversee all elements of the company’s involvement in the vaccination roll-out in Australia.
Dr Andrew Ebringer, Medical Director, International SOS said:
“We are wholeheartedly committed to supporting the delivery and administration of COVID-19 vaccine for all Australians. International SOS has extensive experience in providing healthcare service support across the globe, in both urban and remote settings. Delivering COVID-19 vaccinations to vulnerable populations in our community, including those in aged care and living remotely requires an experienced and compassionate understanding of that sector’s complexities. We look forward to working with peak organisations and other providers to deliver the vaccine to vulnerable groups and harder-to-reach populations. We are proud and humbled to be part of this enormous public health project that is so critical to Australia’s response in 2021 to this pandemic.”
Ian Gilbert, Regional General Manager, International SOS said:
“I congratulate the Australian Government on its development of the COVID-19 vaccination program, a landmark step in supporting Australia’s recovery. We are very proud to partner with the Australian Government in the implementation of Australia’s COVID-19 Vaccine and Treatment Strategy, and are ready to assist wherever the roll-out requires us. We will draw upon over twenty years’ experience in Australia providing multi-disciplinary health services to our geographically dispersed population, to support a successful vaccination program for all Australians.”
Since 1998, International SOS has provided medical services to governments, the private sector and aid organisations across Australia and in the Pacific region.
In Australia, International SOS provides remote healthcare services, pandemic preparedness and planning expertise, crisis management, infectious disease management and occupational health and safety programs.
