Executive Protection Process

For each Executive Protection project, and in accordance with the client’s requirements and the timelines and milestones outlined in the Scope of Work, the following process is completed in advance of the mission:

Initiation of the Executive Protection Request

The client initiates an Executive Protection request for named C-Suite individual(s) by contacting the Dedicated Line. A unique case number is generated and shared with the requestor, who is then connected to the International SOS Executive Protection team to scope the task. The following details are collected:

• Client Profile: Collect personal information, assess public exposure, and identify any known threats or incidents.
• Personal Preferences: Understand the principal’s lifestyle, daily routines, privacy requirements, and communication preferences.
• Threat Identification: Evaluate potential threats based on the individual’s public visibility and business activities.
• Vulnerability Analysis: Analyse vulnerabilities within the individual’s routine, travel itinerary, and social media presence.
• Scope of Protection: Define the protection needed—whether for specific events, travel, or 24/7 coverage.
• Protection Preferences: Discuss preferences for visible versus discreet protection.
• Travel Preferences: Record preferred modes of transport and accommodation, including any specific security features.
• Event Attendance: Identify the types of events the principal frequently attends and any associated security concerns.
• Health and Wellness: Consider any medical conditions, dietary requirements, and the need for medical personnel.

Detailed Mission Assessment

Once the mission is scoped with the client, the International SOS London Security Centre team delivers a detailed assessment. This includes a risk matrix, threat analysis, and a comprehensive plan that outlines:

• Mission approach
• Assigned personnel and resources
• Itinerary
• Contingencies and escalation protocols

The plan is accessible to all operational teams involved in the executive protection task, including both on-ground personnel and International SOS teams overseeing the mission and potential escalations.

Approval and Authorization

The detailed plan is reviewed and subsequently approved by the client. Typically, the corresponding quotation, aligned with the plan of action, is submitted in parallel for final approval and mission authorization.

We ensure confidentiality and discretion through rigorous training and operational protocols. Our Executive Protection personnel are highly skilled in threat assessment, defensive tactics, de-escalation techniques, and emergency medical procedures, all executed with the utmost professionalism and discretion.  

Recommendations for armed or unarmed personnel are carefully tailored to the specific threat level, legal and compliance requirements, cultural considerations, and both client and principal preferences. While we accommodate these preferences, any request that could compromise the security posture is addressed to ensure safety remains the top priority.
